Diana Leigh Surma currently lives and works in Tacoma, WA. Her abstract works incorporate acrylic paint on canvas, paper collage and cotton and polyester thread. Diana is a native of Philadelphia, PA. She began her college career as an architecture student at The Cooper Union where she studied from 2004-2006. In 2010, she earned her Bachelor's Degree in Painting from Hunter College.

While at Hunter, Ms. Surma cultivated an interest in color field painting and color theory which continues to resonate in her work. She maintains a special interest in the work of Josef and Anni Albers. Other influences include Al Held, Robert Rauschenberg, and Julie Mehretu.
